It's the one-year anniversary of when Academia.edu scammed me! <3
Two years ago or so, I started publishing my artistic bachelor's (which I think is a piece of art) on online academic platforms. I mean, why not? It’s not infiltration. It’s all about future collaboration. Anyhow, it did not take too long for Academia.edu to find me and repeatedly send me flirtatious emails asking me if “The Cloud is just another Sun” was or wasn’t my thesis. Yes, sir, it was.
I did not get bothered by their ongoing attempts to create a bond with me. I did not fully comprehend their motives but I let their email flow into my inbox. It always feels nice to feel like there’s demand, although I knew it was solely automated spamming.
Truth be told, I often get requests from research platforms, asking for the approval of my online identity. This is what happens when you have the same family name as three other scientific Ph.D. holders. You get an almost daily reminder of the things you did not write.
One day, they hit me with a different headline. If I recall well, it was something along those lines: “M.Billuart, your paper “The Cloud Is Just Another Sun” has been mentioned in a Neuroscience Paper from Standford University.”
Oh, my dear. You didn’t need to say anything more. Academia.edu, I’m all yours.
But if I had stopped myself for a second, if I had thought about it for a minute, I could have realized that, indeed, this call made no sense. But it felt soooo good to wake up from my daily routine and suddenly emerge into the feeling of finally being seen.

More to come in the next month's writing.
For today, as always, thereby are some updates, thoughts, news, trips… you know.

The Digital Mundane: Risk and Potential
As usual, your monthly dose of theory acid is here. Although I wasn’t exactly sure where it was going, I had fun with this one. It was quite a tricky topic to move around, but I'm excited to share what I found with you.
And as usual, for the ones who despite visuals (I get it, I do too sometimes), the audio version can be found here:

Pre-covid Nostalgia, my Favorite Summer Resort
This is just… one more attempt to read my writings into the void of the internet. Although two months ago I was still nostalgic, I’m happy to tell you that a lot happened since then, sort of forcing me into moving on quicker with life. 2019, I’m already over you.
Golden Nuggets?
Love
